My Journey
For years, I stayed quiet. I believed that if I focused on my family, worked hard, and lived my values, that would be enough. I figured Vermont was still small enough, still neighborly enough, that common sense and decency would hold things together.
Then came the day I read the posts celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk. That was the turning point for me. It wasn’t just political disagreement anymore — it was hate, celebrated out in the open, even in our small towns. It was a sign of how far gone our culture had become when neighbors could cheer for the death of someone simply because of his beliefs.
As a husband and father, I couldn’t ignore it. I couldn’t look at my children and accept a future where faith is mocked, family is dismissed, and violence is laughed at as long as it’s aimed at the “right” people. That was the moment I knew silence was no longer an option.
I write now because Vermont deserves better. America deserves better. And if speaking truth makes me unpopular, so be it. I would rather raise my voice and be counted than sit quietly while hate is normalized.
This is my journey — and the reason I refuse to stay silent.
